The Dale: DALE TIPPETT, JR. MUSIC

Dale is a professional musician born, raised and performing in Chicago as a solo musician, with various bands, several churches, and retirement communities. He has been playing guitar for audiences from all walks of like for most of his life. In the 5th grade and at the age of ten he formed his first band and played school assemblies. He is proud to say that he still shares the stage with guys he has known for 20+ years. After years of receiving door money or tips at coffee shops, he landed his first paid performances playing guitar at churches. He has played in many bands over the years, but his focus has always been on his solo project, Dale Tippett, Jr., and his progressive metal band, Something Beautiful. During the late nineties until about the turn of the century, he taught privately, however, the schedule needed to maintain the lessons began to interfere with his larger goals. He wanted to perform more, so he shifted his focus. He still loves talking about technique and theory whenever he gets the chance. Recently, he has began a new series, The Fretbored, on his YouTube channel, where he does tutorials for guitarists on how to learn scales and modes. He is really excited about his new video projects there, as well as at denythepain.com. He is also currently working on a few resource books for working guitarists and church musicians. Dale says that on his free time, he likes to get nerdy. He is a huge fan of Magic: the Gathering, the card game, my Transformers collection, video games, podcasts and audiobooks. When possible, and usually in collaboration with the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce, he has been involved in organizing and performing at fundraisers and community events. Recently, he performed at a benefit concert for the Patio Theater, the annual “National Night Out Against Crime” campaign in Chicago’s 16th Police District and at BBQ Fest on the Northwest Arts Connection stage with his back up band, Tin Lolita.
