Lourdes C. Livas – VIA Woman of the year 2014

lourdes livasLourdes Livas is a business owner, fashion model, beauty-titles holder, and talented ballroom dancer. Multi-awarded for her community involvement, her other awards include Hall of Fame award for Community Service & Dance Arts in 2006, High Profile Women by Fashion in Fashion, Most Outstanding Women, Calendar Moms of Pilipino American Social Service (PASS) in 2005, Spirit of Excellence, Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Famer by VT/CPPRTV, Outstanding Businesswoman Award from Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago in 2010, Golden Life Award by the Philippine Lions Club, and the Humanitarian Golden Heart Award from PASS.
The youngest daughter of twelve siblings, Livas was born to educator parents, Ana Ramas Corbo and Lope Livas from Cebu City. From an early age, she has exhibited the grace and charm of a beauty queen. Her early crowns included First Princess in town fiestas, the Most Beautiful Muse of the local basketball team in Southern Philippines, Military Cadet Muse at ROTC Presentation of Sponsors and Cadets at the University; and this continues to her current Chicago community activities and involvement…Mrs. FACC Valentine 2004, Mutya Ng Silangan NAFFAAA 2004, Queen of Joy of the Joy Dance Club of Chicago 2004-2006, and Mrs. Philippines PIWC 2005, and modeling for popular Filipino designers of Chicago, Ramon Lazaro and Victor Miller.
Academically, Livas received a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, major in Banking & Finance from Southwestern University of Cebu City, Philippines. She completed a comprehensive study in USA of Landlording, Real Estate and Investing with INVESCO in 1996. Currently, she manages her husband’s medical practice and family investments in Chicago and neighboring suburbs of Schiller Park, Mount Prospect and Palatine. She is the registered owner and president of the Lourdes Livas Properties, Inc.
For her blessings, she has given generously to the Columban Fathers Mission, the Medical Missions that provide aid to Catanduanes, Philippines, and has contributed to a scholarship for a student Seminarian who has since been ordained to priesthood, and a contributor for Future Teachers in the Philippines, a program under the administration of Fr. Rudy Galenzoga. She has been a contributor to the fundraising efforts of many organizations, such as NAFFAAA, PACF, the FACC Health Services and Senior Program, ANCOP USA, and many others. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow from the Lions International for her generous fundraising and charitable work for the Lions Club.
Lourdes Livas Is the loving wife of Dr. Bernardo Livas, a Psychiatrist practicing in Chicago, and a loving mother to her two children, Gavino and Kim.
