Elizabeth Rosas Excellence in Nursing Leadership National Award

rosasBeth was born in San Marcelino, Zambales and graduated from St. William’s High School. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila in 1976. After graduation, she worked briefly at the UST Pay Hospital as an Emergency room nurse. She immigrated to the US in 1978 and found her first nursing job in Quanah, Texas. She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1979 and completed her work visa program at St. Mary’s Hospital and NKC Hospital. She worked as a clinical nurse in various specialties including Telemetry, Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Cardiac Rehab, Palliative and Hospice nursing. She has over 18 years in clinical nursing and 22 years in nursing management as the Director of Nursing of a family business, a nursing staffing Agency, Reliable Healthcare Services. Beth completed the Holistic Nutrition Consultant Program in 2009 and Parish Nursing in 2010. Beth and her husband are both nurse entrepreneur and civic community leaders in the Greater Kansas City area.
Since 1978, Beth and family resided in the Greater Kansas City and has been active in numerous nursing professional organizations such as the Philippine Nurses Association of Greater Kansas City (PNAGKC) and served as the President, Secretary, Board Member and Chairman of different Committees and Regional Vice President of the Philippine Nurses Association of America, 2010-2014. She was a member of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and past member of the Mid-America Association of Nursing Supervisors (MAANS). She was a certified CPR Instructor of both American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

In 1994, together with husband Ernie, they founded Reliable Healthcare Services, Inc., a healthcare staffing and international recruitment company. They provided temporary healthcare personnel including nurses to various hospital systems in Missouri, Kansas, Indiana and Ohio. In 1995, the Company was awarded a GSA Contract, FSS 621 a Federal Contract to serve VA Health Systems, Department of Defense, National Institute of Health and Indian Reservation Health System.

Beth Rosas is a happy wife, fulfilled mother, ecstatic grandmother, successful nursing professional, entrepreneur, business and a community leader. Currently she is the President of the Zonta KCMO II Club 2016-2018, a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service, advocacy, education and networking. With this organization, she supports the annual Mother’s day Out of Sheffield’s Place, a homeless shelter with the mission to empower homeless mothers and their children to heal from their trauma and help them become self-sufficient. She works on joint fundraising events with the Greater Kansas City UNA Women’s group. She was a past Regional Vice President of the Philippine Nurses Association of America and since 1991, she has served and held various position in her local chapter, Philippine Nurses Association of Greater Kansas City and in the National Executive Board and Committees of PNA of America. She is currently the Chairman of the PNAA Community Outreach Committee, a committee she introduced to PNAA. This Committee currently has 5 PNAA Outreach Initiatives namely, Healthy Heart Healthy Family (HHHF), Filipino Cancer Network Association (FCNA), BalikTuro, PNAA Gawad Kalinga and the Kababayan Emergency Preparedness Funds (KEPF). In 2008, Beth and the PNAA GK Committee coordinated efforts and started to build the PNAA GK Village in Piel, Baliuag, Bulacan which has 49 GK houses to date with 3 more to be built.
As a community and business leader, she is a member of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and is part of the Filipino Medical Mission Team that was recently awarded the Civic Leader of the year 2016. Beth has been going to the Philippines for medical missions to different localities since 1996. Besides her professional involvements, Beth is also immersed in the affairs and activities of the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas and the Filipino Cultural Center Foundation having served as President in both organizations whose missions are to preserve the Filipino traditions and culture and to support the second and third generations in the Filipino-American Community.
Beth is a chartered Secretary of the Kansas City World Outreach Lions Club (KCWOLC) and continues to serve as an active member and currently the Chairman of the District Convention in 2017. In 2009, Beth introduced the KCWOLC Moringa Feeding Program by collecting pennies/funds. Since then she continues to implement the program by feeding school children, children in shelters and orphanages and children in different GK Villages during her annual visits to the Philippines. The Feeding program now includes the building of yellow and blue fishing boats for fishermen and means of transportation for school children in the islands. She also coordinated the Phil/US Gawad Kalinga/Kalusugan project by donating water supply and implemented the KCWOLC GK Farm in the PNAA GK Village.
She is an active participant for twenty years and financial supporter of several Medical Missions to the Philippines and other countries. She is currently serving as the Co-Coordinator of the 2016 & 2017 Medical Missions sponsored by the Philippine Medical Society of KC and Philippine Nurses Association of Greater Kansas City.
Beth is the recipient of numerous awards and honors from local and national professional nursing, civic and business organizations which include 2016 PNAA National Excellence Award in Community Service, recently she is nominated and selected to be inducted to the Chicago Asian American Hall of Fame under Excellence in Community Service, 2010 Nurse Leadership Award – PNAA North Central Region, 2008 Community Leader Award – World Outreach Foundation of Greater Kansas City, 2007 Community Leader and Philanthropic “Bukas Palad” Award – Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City, 2004 Nurse of the Year Award of PNA of Greater Kansas City,
Currently, Beth is keeping herself busy traveling with her husband of 37 years, visiting their 3 grandchildren, Landon, Evelyn and Asher, visiting her 5 siblings and 95 year old father and working part time as a Palliative and Hospice nurse. Beth and Ernie have 3 successful children, Gary, Joel and Jessica Rosas. Beth is looking forward to her retirement and many more travels to different places all over the world.
