Household of Faith Christian Church “Summer Revival Gospel Concert”

Ryan-Tejero

By: Ryan Tejero

The first Saturday of August became a glorious and empowering moment for our Christian brothers and sisters in the southwest suburbs of Plainfield, IL. For the first time in the Filipino American community here in Chicago, a gospel concert was organized by a young and growing Filipino American church, called the Household of Faith Christian Church (HFCC). This is another feather among us Filipino Americans, as we don’t only strive to do better in community organizing, but also in faith building.

The Summer Revival is a gospel concert produced, choreographed and designed by HFCC members. It is a concert with carefully selected songs to revive our spirits and our faith. This is the first of a kind fundraising event of the church to generate a seed money to go towards constructing a church building. HFCC is composed of about 20 young Fil-Am families in the suburbs of Chicago. Now on it’s 7th year, HFCC is growing in number, and expanding its ministries.

A full-packed auditorium of the newly-built and contemporarily- designed Plainfield’s Community Christian Church hosted a number of young Christians who expressed their adoration to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The show was opened by the HFCC Angels (composed of Serenitee Siao, Emilie Alayan, Kacy Laqui, Gaddiyel Montero, Pauline Leal, Kaylin Burns, & Anikka Siao), who performed an upbeat dance number entitled, “Fearless.” This was followed by the two other dance numbers from Kylie Arenas and the NueImage Dance Group (composed of Kaitlyn Yilk, Stephanie Varys, Kelsey Jones, Kya Hoskins & Danielle “Cece” Arenas). The solos were performed by Galilee Montero who sang “My Life is in Your Hands, and Overcomer;” Angela Castro, with her rendition of the song “Gold;” Joyce Jelata, who performed “A Hundred Billion Times;” Hannah Alayan who performed “Perfect Grace,” and Jinky Bastes-Burns, who performed “I Look to You.”

The Gospel Concert featured one of the most popular and promising singers in Chicago. She performed a total of six gospel music: Hills and Valleys and Oceans were performed with Violin Accompaniment by Marissa Laqui; No Other Love and Broken Prayers with the HFCC Youth Band – Miggi Quinones, Galilee Montero, Mace Quinones, Marv Quinones; and Real Love and How Great Thou Art with Guitar Accompaniment by Jacob Noyola.

Kayla has performed in various fundraising events in the Fil-Am community and in the mainstream for free. Kayla is widely recognized not only here in the Chicagoland, but also in other states, such as in Michigan. Earlier this year, she received the “Most Beautiful Filipino Award of Recognition” in Toronto, Canada for her outstanding contributions in the community by sharing her talent in raising funds for various non- profit organizations. Kayla is a current member of HFCC, and is active in Youth Ministry, and the HFCC’s Praise and Worship Team.

Concert attendees Florence and her husband said, “this concert is professionally organized, I like the flow and transition from one performance to another, the songs are truly moving and the performers showed their best, congratulations! I want to sign up now if there is a repeat performance.” Pastor Ron and his wife expressed, “We are amazed with all the talents and gifts of the HFCC performers.”

The overwhelming success of the gospel concert is due to the hard work and dedicated service to the Lord of HFCC members. The following is the composition of the gospel concert: MUSICAL DIRECTOR – Pastor Heman Lumapas; MARKETING DIRECTOR – Ryan Tejero; MANAGING DIRECTOR – Irish Laqui; VISUAL ARTIST AND ILLUSTRATOR – Luis Leal

STAGE AND LIGHTING PRODUCER – Ritchie Quinones; ADVISOR – Pastor Julius Montero

PROPS DIRECTOR/ CHOREOGRAPHER – Liliabeth Laqui; PERFORMANCE DIRECTORS – Glennette Montero and Donna Sison; OFF STAGE DIRECTORS – Maggie Quinones and Edgil Lumapas; The event was well-supported by the generous sponsors: Global Alayan Services, Nue Medical Solutions, LLC, FMR Home Health, Inc., AyalaLand, Californa- based V81 Radio, CPRTV/ VIA Times, and FilAmMegaScene.
