Chicago, IL — For the tenth occasion, the Final Presentation for the 2020 Chicago Letter to My Parents™ Contest was held on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Eight contestants recited letters dedicated to their parents.
The Contest was organized by Pilsen Wellness Center and Reiyukai Active Care Team Chicago. Sponsored by BenchPrep. Supported by Durango Unido en Chicago, and Reiyukai America.
The eight contestants— Stephany Estrada, Robert Fadrowski, Nancy Limon, Marialexandra Nunez, Fernanda Osorio, Yazmin Sandoval, Laura Vazquez, and Flora Zavala—presented their letters before parents, families, judges and others in attendance. The Pilsen Wellness Center provided the venue for the event.
All eight participants received a prize of $50, along with a Certificate of Participation courtesy of Reiyukai America. Each contestant also will be receiving a prize from BenchPrep.
Contest judges selected two award recipients who will travel to Japan as delegate members of the “Reiyukai Leadership Training” trip from March 18th to 28th.
The judges selected Marialexandra Nunez and Robert Fadrowski as Japan Trip award recipients. Nancy Limon was selected to receive the runner up prize with $500 scholarship sponsored by Reiyukai America.
The judges were Dr. Monica Masana (Pilsen Wellness Center,) Jessica Parra (Culture Coordinator and Acting Assistant Principal, Funston Elementary) and Zachary Miolbourn (Former Community Support Specialist)
