Prayers for the fatalities and survivors from Cebu car crash accident

Dear Sis Elsie:

The news from you about the death of Dr. Nunilo Rubio is very shocking; we heard this for the first time from you. Thanks. We pity the good-hearted humanitarian, Dr. Nunilo, that he died in the line of volunteer duty.

We pray for Dr. Nita that she will recover from her life-threatening injuries.

Wow! This is shocking indeed. I do not know this couple personally, but I have heard volumes about their good works, always looking for ways to help the less-fortunate, the less-endowed and the suffering members of society, specially in our country.

We will pray for God’s help to the departed and the injured.

It is with great sadness that we report on the loss and critical injury of our community members and friends, who were about to begin on a medical mission in Philippines to start next Monday.

Seven Filipino American doctors and nurses – residents of Chicago and New York – visiting tourist destinations in Cebu were killed when their van rammed into a tree in Barangay Legaspi, Alegria town at noon on Saturday, January 20.

Aurora M. Gagni, Joseph Huang, Juvelia Huang, Rey Pascual, Diana Pascual, Berniti Rojas, and Nunilo Rubio, former president of the Philippine Medical Association of Chicago, Leonor Tsai and Fred Tsai sustained injuries. Mrs. Elenita Rubio, wife of Dr. Ninilio, is also in critical condition.

Our hearts go out to all and their families and friends, with prayers for the injured’s recovery. May the memories of the lost be blessings to all who know and love them. We have reached out to PMAC’s leadership, to extend our deepest condolences and we have opened our doors to them.

We will share details as learned.
