New Year’s Message

Dear Vero & Via Times/CPR TV:

As we embark on a new journey into the year 2024, I want to take a moment to extend my sincerest wishes for Via Times & CPR TV a future filled with peace, love, good health, and prosperity for all.

In a world where division and conflict seem all too prevalent, let us make a conscious effort to be ambassadors of peace. Let us choose kindness over animosity, understanding over judgment, and unity over discord. By treating one another with empathy and respect, we can bridge gaps of misunderstanding and build a foundation of harmony that can transcend borders and bring us closer.

By spreading love, we have the power to inspire and uplift, to heal wounds, and to forge connections that last a lifetime.

As we bid farewell to the challenges of the past and greet the promise of the future, let’s remember that our collective efforts have the power to bring about positive change. Together, we can create a world where peace, love, good health, and prosperity flourish for all.

With warmest,

Evelyn Natividad

The New Year Starts with Dry January

Goodbye 2023! Now that the holidays are nearly over and overindulging is behind us, it’s time for a reset. January has been coined, “Dry January”. Dry January is a one-month sobriety challenge where people stop drinking alcohol for 31 days. The idea behind Dry January is to start the new year on a healthy note, detoxify the body, and potentially reassess one’s relationship with alcohol.

“Dry January is an opportunity for individuals to re-evaluate their relationship with alcohol and make better choices,” said Illinois Liquor Control Commission Executive Director Lisa Gardner. “Your body deserves a yearly reset. What better time than the start of a brand-new year?”

Committing to Dry January can lead to positive changes both physically and mentally. For a successful Dry January, individuals should have a strategy and set clear goals for managing cravings, peer pressure, and social situations that involve alcohol. When in a social setting, grab a mocktail for the same taste without the alcohol, or a canned water to blend in with those who are drinking.

Dry January benefits: • Improves Overall Health; • Saves Money;• Reset Drinking Habits;• Improves Sleep • Aids in Weight Loss;• Promotes Self-Discipline;• Encourages Personal Growth • Sets a Positive Tone for the Year

Urgent Call for Working Permits

for all As we observe Human Rights Day every year, we strongly urge President Biden to utilize the existing law to broaden work permits through expanded parole, TPS, or DED.

Working and providing for one’s family is a fundamental human right.

Miami, FL – International Human Rights Day is observed on December 10th each year. On that day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone in human rights history.

The American Friends Service Committee and the Miramar Circle of Protection coalition advocate for human rights awareness. It’s a time for people to unite and connect with others who believe that every human deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Immigrants come to the United States to work, but unfortunately, the immigration system is broken. Due to the gridlock in Congress, it has become impossible to take action on behalf of long-term immigrants who have worked and paid taxes for many decades.

Immediate action is required because of the economic and humanitarian emergencies, and the Administration has the authority to do more.

Undocumented immigrants in the United States have been waiting for years for legalization, and the recent issuance of work permits for eligible Venezuelan migrants has given them hope. They had been here for decades and had worked in the U.S. for years without permits and in constant fear of being caught by immigration officers.

Because we believe the right to work and provide for their family is a human right. We urge President Biden to expand parole, TPS, and DED for long-term immigrant contributors.

This country has received thousands of immigrants who are not being given the right to work. President Biden can use the existing law to expand work permits through expanded parole, TPS, or DED.

It is essential to provide work permits to all immigrants here for decades to support their families. A work permit would allow them to secure a good job that would improve their overall well-being for them and their families.

American Friends Service Committee, AFSC, works for a just, peaceful, and sustainable world free from violence, inequality, and oppression. We join with people and partners from around the world to meet urgent community needs, challenge injustice, and build peace.
