Fil-Ams in South DuPage join July 4th Parade in Darien

Darien, Il. – Filipino Americans Association of South DuPage officers, families and friends joined the July 4th parade in Darien, IL in celebration of our nation’s independence. It’s been a tradition in FAASD to join the parade for many years. The Darien Lions Club sponsors the 4th of July Parade for the enjoyment of all Darien residents and visitors.

The Filipino American Association of South DuPage (aka FAASD) was formed in 1984 in Darien, Illinois. It is composed of Filipino-American families (approximately 450+) residing in the cities and villages of Darien, Downers Grove, Westmont, Willowbrook, Woodridge, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Burr Ridge, Lisle and Naperville. It is established as a non-profit organization, which is founded on the spirit of friendship and camaraderie; to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage, customs and traditions of the Filipinos; to provide scholarships to exemplary graduating high school Filipino-American students and support charitable activities.

The current President of FAASD is Jose Soloria. The 2017 FAASD scholar recipient is Cheenie Ayala of Hinsdale South High School. Cheenie is also the reigning Miss FAASD 2016-2018.

The activities of FAASD includes the election of officers, annual family picnic, Christmas celebration, spring dance, FAASD anniversary gala & cotillion.
