Kiss Me, I’m Irish!

Feeling extremely lucky this month as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The history of St. Patrick’s originates from observing the death of St. Patrick who was the patron saint of Ireland. Since then, the holiday is celebrated with parades, music, drinking, and of course wearing green. Be careful, if you are not wearing green, you might get pinched! For our college students, spring break is approaching. Some may spend time simply at home or are lucky enough to take a trip somewhere. Whether we are still in school or working hard in our careers, it is so important to take breaks. We all need to relax and unwind.

Speaking of being lucky, it has been a lucky month so far for me. I got several offers to perform for charitable organizations, and it gives me more excitement, just thinking about it. I will be performing at the event of Chicago Nightingales in April, an invite to perform in Indiana for nurses also in April, and another performance invite in May for the Asian American Heritage Festival. Sometimes, I am mistaken between pure luck and blessings. Whatever they are, everything that is positive in life is welcomed. Just like these four college students who are lucky to be an inspiration to others, I am lucky to just have them in my column this month. Let us hear from our four college students for this month!

Nathan says, “I hope to be the first in my family to do many things that my family never had the opportunity to do. I want to be the first military officer in my family upon graduating. Also, I want to be the first person in my family to earn a PhD, after completing my undergraduate degree and Master’s.”

JJ says, “While in school, I’d like to work on my side business as a recording engineer/producer, and work with bigger artists. I want to travel and work with more artists. I want to improve my life physically and mentally. I want to challenge myself by hitting my personal fitness and business goals, and establish my brand.”

Cali says, “While in school, my goal is to create, find, and execute better opportunities for Asian American creatives in the Chicago land. My goal is to contribute to this in any way I can until it is accomplished. After graduation, I plan on focusing my up and coming talent agency, Haus of Caliber, to Filipinx & other Asian American or underrepresented creatives to reimagine the current standard in America.”

Rachel says, “I’d like to graduate with full honors and leave a lasting impression in all of my student groups before I leave. After graduation, I’d like to find a job as a news reporter in South Dakota. I’ll be moving in with my long-distance boyfriend and I’d like to start building our life together.”
