The Wedding Janet and Jerry Masangcay A Match Made by Destiny

cover1

Halloween seemed to be a lucky holiday for the two of them. That was when Janet and Jerry laid eyes on each other for the fi rst time. Nelia, Janet’s big sister, always celebrated Halloween with a big party considering that her birthday falls on that day, so for the last several years, Janet’s Halloween plans consisted of celebrating her sister’s birthday with the rest of the family, period. But back in 2018, dearest sister Nelia decided to do something else on her birthday, freeing up Janet’s weekend, and thus, the title of my short story.

Needless to say, Janet Guinsatao, walked into the ballroom dressed as the Queen of the Nile herself, the beautiful and sexy Cleopatra, in full costume and make-up, in a shimmering, shiny short number that Jerry Masangcay, being the full-blooded suave Romeo that he was in his black tux, could not help but be drawn to. From that fateful evening on, their destinies collided and in just less than four years, have now become husband and wife. Sure, the stars aligned the rest of the events following their fi rst night together through common friends and common interests, but their “not-so- perfect” pasts made them absolutely perfect for each other.

When Janet started posting pictures on Facebook of the two of them together, I just had to call her myself and ask about this new man in her life. Like a love struck woman that has seen the light, she calmly explained how Jerry made her feel, how he accepted all of her, worked to win her, how he made her laugh, and how gentle he was with her and her heart. Needless to say, I felt her happiness, and after personally meeting Jerry, even I knew that they were indeed destined to meet and were lucky to have found each other at the right time and place, no matter where life had taken them before. What was important that from that day on, they found an ally in each other, and that love will be their guide.

On October 6, 2021, they tied the knot in a civil ceremony, and last July 9 of this year 2022, their union was blessed in church when Janet, beautiful and dazzling in white, walked down the aisle the fi rst and fi nal time, to be with her husband, Jerry Masangcay, surrounded by family and close friends as they exchanged vows of forever and ever. To you both, we wish you nothing but health, happiness, and continued abundance of everything that life has to offer. You both have been through good times and bad, but now with each other side by side, the best is yet to come! (By Maria Girlie Pascual)
