As we welcome the beautiful and colorful foliage of Fall, and saying goodbye to the verdant greens of summer, we are also getting ready to welcome the most exciting batch of the 2015 Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Famers on our 21st anniversary of the most sought-after awards night and red-carpet gala event to be held on November 14, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare Hotel.

We are honored to welcome and salute the most outstanding recipients from different categories who will be inducted into the Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Fame (watch the VT photo cover features in the next October issue)…Rev. On our homefront, we are so thrilled for the wonderful developments and changes that are happening on our sister broadcast company, the Chicago Philippine Reports TV (CPRTV). Of course, first thing is our “green screen” conversion for every segment of our show, (thanks to Brian Evangelista and Aaron Lasala’s hi-tech minds), making it now more comparable and competing with some network TV shows around. Next, was the welcoming appearances of some new talents in the persons ofMariaAngelaMunez,Mae Flores and JoeyMayuga.

Mary Angela Munez is now acting as a sub-anchor for CPRTV, subbing for Anchor Maria Girlia Pascual in her absence. Mary works full time as a film director, casting director and publicist. As a young child, Mary was a writer for VIA Times.

Mae Flores, a Hollywood actress, entrepreneur, a former Hall of Famer in Performing Arts, Mae’s maiden appearance on LOL was a welcoming sight.

Joey Mayuga wrote for VIA Times as a young kid, now an entrepreneur and a cheerleading coach. Watch him as a regular LOL cast member.

These are young talented Filipino-Americans, children of Filipino immigrants, who are now starting to make their indelible marks in this country, their country of birth, the U.S.A.. as movers and shakers.

I cannot forget the SUMMER OF 2015, when my one and only granddaughter Maya (Bata Korner columnist), started working for her Lola, starting out in the mailing department–stuffing envelopes and licking stamps and mailing them in the post office. What a sweet feeling for a Lola like me!

Warm congrats to Elsie Sy-Niebar for the success of her 3rd annual fundraising recently More on this in the next issue.##
