Philippine Nurses Association of Greater Chicago (PNAGC) is nonprofit organization composed of nurses founded in 2019. The organization comprises of licensed professional nurses in Illinois that promote diversity, unity, innovations and inspires other nurses to achieve the organization’s mission.
PNAGC’s heart and soul is the scholarship program that provides financial grants to its 14 scholars in the Philippines mostly nursing students who aspire to become future nurses. PNAGC organization believes in “transformation through education,” changing lives one day at a time and making every dream come into a reality. True to its cause in transforming its members, PNAGC provides free continuing education and seminar to nurses annually with different topics like Sexual harassment at workplace, Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care and allow our nurses to advance their knowledge and to network with other nurses.
To build a strong community network and partnership, PNAGC supports other community organizations like Mabuhay Lions Club and Santacruzan Cultural Group in their fund-raising events for humanitarian and charity events. The organization also plays a big role in community events like Fiesta Pinoy as members serve as volunteers during the celebration.
PNAGC celebrates the many contributions and achievements of nurses. As such, it holds its “Pugay Kamay Nurse Excellence Award with a Gala Night in October which is also the Filipino American Heritage month. This award recognizes nurses who excel in different professional specialty and nursing fields. PNAGC believes that giving recognition will inspire others to work hard and to make a difference in our community.
A lot of people in the community supported the organization in different events like the spring dance, annual gala night and nurses participating in free seminars.
Current president of PNAGC, Ginalene Lopez expressed in her message that “It is a privilege to lead this organization with good intentions of pure camaraderie and as well as helping our own “kababayans “in fulfilling their dreams into reality. I owe my strength to our dedicated officers and board members who voluntarily shared their time, talent and skills in making this organization a great and successful one. My message to our Filipino community is to work with us hand in hand and let’s work together and inspire each other to make a difference in our community. May God’s favor be with us always in our journey.”
