35k in Scholarships Available to Students Who Give Back to Our Community
[Oakland, CA | March 11, 2025] — Self-Help Federal Credit Union (www.self-helpfcu.org) is offering $1,000 scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to their community. Every Self-Help branch will award a scholarship to a student from its local area who demonstrates how furthering their education will make a positive impact on the neighboring community. Students must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational institution, which includes colleges, universities, technical, trade, and vocational schools.
Established in 2015, a total of $38,000 is expected to be awarded this year. Applicants must complete a short essay describing what economic opportunity means to them or how education powers change in our community. You don’t need to be a credit union member to apply.
Applications must be completed online no later than Friday, March 31, 2025. Scholarship applications and guidelines can be found online at self-helpfcu.org/scholarships.
Self-Help works nationwide to provide fair and affordable financial products that help underserved communities, especially women, rural residents and low-to moderate wealth families achieve their financial goals.
