EDUARDO CARBILLON CABANAYAN – EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMING ARTS

Eduardo Carbillon CabanayanEduardo Carbillon Cabanayan, popularly called by friends as ED, was born and raised in the town of Sta. Maria, Pangasinan, Philippines on the 21st of February, 1961.
Ed has shown his versatility and talent in the field of arts and music since the young age of twelve (12) when he became a member of the Church Choir until he went to the National University in Manila, Philippines, and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He migrated to Chicago in 1995, and is currently married to Tess Cabanayan and blessed with one granddaughter, Dana Marie.
He is a pioneer member of the “Loreto Minstrels,” a church choir based in Sampaloc, Manila. He was a part of the 1,000 Choir who sang to Pope John Paul during the “World Youth Day” celebration in 1995, accompaniment by the Philippine Philarmonic Orchestra.
Known for his hard-working qualities, he started designing residential houses, interior and stage designing and décor. He continued his passion in arts in Chicago, and was the official stage designer and decorator for 10 years during the Kalayaan celebration of Independence Day and the Ilocanos of the Midwest gala night events. He also was the stage designer and decorator for the following events…PWC Gala nights for many years, PIWC Gala 2010, PESO Gala nights and different events, sponsored by mostly Filipino American organizations in Chicago.
A very popular Disc Jockey, his career in DJing started 14 years ago, and he has become remarkable for his unique display of showmanship and professionalism as a singer, dancer, and DJ, all at the same time. He always provides music for community events in Chicago and suburbs. Many party-goers say, “whenever it’s Ed Cabanayan providing the music/dance services in parties, the party becomes truly alive, kicking and well.”

Performer: (Lead dancer) Kalayaan dance troupe: A Filipino cultural dance evolution under the leadership of Mae Lant at Daley Center, Symphony Center, both in downtown Chicago.
Performer: (Lead dancer) Kalayaan Dance Troupe; Opening Act (dance number) with the late Dolphy and Zsa Zsa Padilla Concert in Chicago.
He is currently the President of Chicago Juzz Danz, an organization he founded with passion for ballroom dancing. He spearheaded fundraising events to support scholars thru the “Bantay Bata” project in the Philippines. Through his leadership, his Chicago Juzz Danz organization dedicated their time and effort to donating proceeds from their various fundraising campaigns to those places devastated by natural calamities in the Philippines.
Ed Cabanayan currently works as a Service Coordinator at Premier Point Home Health, Inc.
