When Minds Are At Wits’ End

That is when you think or behave like Trillanes and his fellow ousters of Du30’s government. That is when you don’t see inconsistencies or lapses in your arguments. Consider, for instance, the following:

1. He insists that Duterte should sign a bank waiver if, indeed, the latter has nothing to hide. Now Duterte won’t sign, so he concludes that Duterte has hidden wealth. How illogical! It’s like saying to a girl: if you don’t certify that you’re not a lesbian, then you must be a lesbian. Hello? So, if PAGASA won’t confi rm that it will rain today, does that mean necessarily that it will rain? Of course not. You can’t infer a positive consequent from a negative antecedent of a conditional statement in Logic’s law of Modus Ponens.

2. He says that there are a lot of killings in the Philippines these days and these killings are alarming. Alarming to whom? If people are happy that rapists and criminals are being killed, then the killings are alarming to criminals because such killings are deterrent measures to them. So, is he indirectly implying that he is on the side of criminals?

3. He says that Duterte is guilty of crime against humanity? How can you be against humanity when you are loved by a sea of humanity. Is Trillanes implying that killing rapists and druglords and criminals is a crime against humanity? Then, what is humanity? Is humanity then the same as criminality?

Examples can be multiplied. Please comment below your own observations or examples of Trillanes’ lapses. Maningsolrac Agcoprasagall (FB )

Hello everyone,

Mayon Volcano in the province of Albay in the Bikol Region started to spew lava since 1/15/2018 during its sporadic eruption. Tens of thousands of residents have evacuated, as heavy rains have stirred fears of mudslide carrying debris spewed by Mount Mayon. It’s fi rst eruption was last January 22, 2018 until last week.

The Bikol National Association of America (BNAA) started the distribution of relief goods like sardines, rice, noodles and some can foods thru the leadership of Mrs. Zayda Ordonez Baron, founder & 1st president of the BNAA, with her husband Mr. Senen Baron and some volunteers.

As chairman of the BNAA Disaster Relief Committee, I would like to ask each and everyone of you to please join us in helping our affected kababayans to feel that they are not alone in their experiences. Please send your donations payable to the “CONFTRATERNITY OF OUR LADY OF PENAFRANCIA” and write in the memo “BNAA DISASTER FUND”. The COLP is a member of the BNAA and an Organization Exempt under IRS Code 501 (c) (3). You donations are tax deductible. We will remit all donations to the BNAA. Please mail your checks to: Roger R. Odiamar, 7316 Main Street, Niles, IL 60714.

Attached is an appeal from the Bikol National Association of America. Sincerely yours, Roger R. Odiamar BNAA, Past President Disaster Relief Committee, Chairperson
