Antonio N. Maravilla

Antonio “Tony” Maravilla, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 3, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born on June 8, 1936, in Taal, Batangas, Philippines, to Numeriano and Escolastica Maravilla. Tony was one of eight children, and he grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of love, resilience, and commitment.

In 1959, Tony married the love of his life, Irma Estacio, who preceded him in death on December 1, 2023. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.

As a young man Tony dedicated a significant part of his life to public service, working diligently for the Philippines Bureau of Customs agency. In 1971, he made a life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities and a brighter future for his family. In his new homeland, he found a fulfilling career with United Airlines, where he served as an accountant until his well-earned retirement in 1992.

Tony was an active member of the Filipino community in Chicago, dedicating his time and efforts to organizations such as the Rizal Center of Chicago and the Chicago division of the Philippine National Basketball Association of America (PNBAA). His contributions left a lasting impact on these communities, and he will be remembered fondly by his fellow members.

Tony Maravilla is survived by his three loving children, Alveric (Ann), Ilynne (Nick), and John (Robert); his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Jacqueline, and Peyton; his beloved siblings, Corazon and Josefina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Many of these nieces and nephews regarded him as a second father and affectionately referred to him as “Daddy.”

Antonio Maravilla will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, his quiet strength, and his commitment to family and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
