VIA TIMES ENDORSES JESUS “CHUY” GARCIA FOR MAYOR OF CHICAGO

For the past four years, incumbent Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is a NONTRANSPARENT MAYOR in Chicago’s Neighborhood. AMERICA is a Land of Immigrants. With due respect and concern to other Ethnic Communities in Chicago, in his four years of office, never had Mayor Emanuel ever honored our invitations to him as the Honorable Guest Speaker at our Asian American Community which celebrates the Heritage of our respective Nativeland like our Philippine Independence Day — a very opportune time for him to meet hardworking Filipino Americans who have contributed their talents to America’s Nation Building. Seemingly UNfeeling of all Chicago ethnic communities, Mayor Emanuel abolished Ethnic Commissions like the Asian Advisory Council (created by the late Mayor Harold Washington) and the annual celebration of our Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (proclaimed by former President George Bush (the Dad). Chicago Mayors before Rahm celebrated these occasions with city-sponsored receptions and cultural programs. EDUCATION is Power. But Mayor Emanuel closed several Public Schools which left thousands of neighborhood kids scampering where to go!. Even the “Jumping Jack,” which the kids enjoy at community picnics and Block Parties was a goner.
