CONSULATE GENERAL REACHES OUT TO FIL-AM YOUTH IN THE MIDWEST

09 March 2018, Chicago – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago initiated moves to encourage greater involvement of the Filipino American youth in the Midwest in its efforts to promote Philippine tourism and Filipino heritage.

Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin invited to a meeting at the Consulate General the President of the Midwest Association of Filipino Americans Executive Board, Samantha “Sammy” Dayon, fellow Executive Board member Emily Balentine and others who joined through Google Hangout from Madison, WI and Detroit, MI.

Aside from helping promote the upcoming Ambassadors’ Tour, the young leaders of MAFA expressed interest and willingness to participate in projects being developed by the Consulate General for Filipino American youth to allow them to rediscover their roots and explore ways of giving back to their parents’ native land in the future.

They were also invited to participate in disaster and emergency preparedness training to be pursued by the Consulate General for community leaders across its jurisdiction. END
