Sunday, March 2, 2025, was a busy day for the Knights of Columbus (KofC) Council 182, the oldest Council west of the Alleghenies, chartered in July 1896. They joined other KofC Councils in the Chicago Area in honoring Cardinal Blase Cupich and all Archdiocesan Clergy with an Appreciation Luncheon at the Allegra Banquets. The K of C Chicago Archdiocesan Chapter presented Cardinal Cupich with a donation check for the Archdiocese Annual Appeal. That same evening, KofC 182 members provided logistical support to the one-man play Damien, starring Wayne Messmer, held at Holy Name Cathedral, by setting up for the play, handing out the program, and ushering the guests. KofC 182 was one of the main sponsors of the play. Joseph N Mauricio, the late husband of Veronica Leighton, publisher of the award-winning Via Times, was an Honorary Life Member of KofC Council 182. His memory, as well as all the deceased members of the council lives on in the activities of the Knights of Council 182.
