Chicago, Il. – We are very happy to announce that the biggest Filipino American event in the Chicago area will be back. The 6th Philippine Fest Celebration (Piyesta Pinoy sa Bolingbrook) will be on Saturday, June 8 2019 at the beautiful Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center 375 W. Briarcliff Rd in Bolingbrook. Piyesta Pinoy, or Philippine Fest, is an annual celebration and showcase of Filipino heritage and culture. It features a variety of cultural and fun activities for all generations – live music and dances from both contemporary and cultural performers, authentic Filipino cuisine, cultural exhibits, arts & crafts, train ride, pabitin and other children’s games, an opening parade and GK family fun walk. We are also selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the American Heart Association in memory of Ron Lucius Salazar, a volunteer of Piyesta Pinoy and FAHSC.

Megan Young, the former Miss World will be this year’s celebrity special guest brought to you by GMA, our exclusive media partner this year. Filipinos from all over the world will forever remember and remain eternally proud of Megan Young’s historic feat as the first-ever Filipina to win the ever-elusive Ms. World crown, which she bagged in 2013. Prior to her beauty pageant stint, Megan had already carved her name in showbiz, and had already made a name for herself as a talented actress and events host. She hosted the Kapuso talent/reality show StarStruck. The proud GMA-7 contract star rose to even greater heights when she played the title role in the classic Mexican telenovela MariMar in 2015, she also has been part of GMA’s series Alyas Robinhood and Stepdaughters where she plays the title role.

We are announcing new food vendors joining us this year, namely Ramar Foods, Lina’s Filipino Marketplace and Lightning Events in addition to the food vendors that are coming back – Seafood City, Manila Fiesta, Kitty’s Shaved Ice and Mabuhay restaurant and catering.

We are also happy to announce that Gawad Kalinga will be back at Piyesta Pinoy organizing a family fun walk. We’re introducing a lot of new activities at the cultural tent this year to make it truly fun for the whole family. Cultural partners and not for profit partners include the PACF performing Arts, BIBBAK IL, CIRCA-Pintig, HFCC Kasayahan Cultural Group of Chicago, Legion of Mary, Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL), Filipino American Community Health of Chicago (FACHIC), Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago, Derong Modern Arnis, Elisha Marie Grover – story time, KAMPILAN Eskrima, Filipino Kali Eskrima of Chicago, Taboada Balintawak/Maktan FMA, Pekiti-Tirsia Kalirungan, World Martial Arts Academy USA, Julie Azarcon -Zumba, PESO, Gawad Kalinga Chicago, ISFFA, Jeepney Games, Chicago Suburban Christian Church, Fred DeAsis – artist, FYLPRO, Bolingbrook Park District/ Library and video arcades from the Galloping Ghost

The main stage schedule includes cultural program 11AM – 1PM, Variety from 2PM – 4PM, LOL and Celebrity Hour 5PM – 7PM and Dance Party 8PM -10PM. Performing during the cultural program are the mainstays namely the Chicago Angklung Rondalla Ensemble, BIBBAK Illinois, the Philippine American Cultural Foundation Performing Arts, Kulturo from Loyola Univeristy, FIA Cultural from University of Illinois Chicago, Lane Tech KHB, the Silayan Choir and Pilipino American Seniors Association of Chicago . Joining us for the first time on stage this year are the Household of Faith Christian Church Kasayahan Cultural Group, Filipino American Society of Central Illinois Dance Troupe and CIRCA Pintig. The variety segment performers include Ukulenny (Lenny San Jose), Barkadaz, Chris Valera, the Angry Piano, MJ Sumila, Dahlia Jane and the Lucidblur Band. The dance party segment performers include DJ Rex and DJ Kid Kris, Zumba with Julie Azarcon, the M Crew Band, No Limits Band, the Groove Time Band and Samasama Project. The program emcees are Alpha and Emil Nicolasin, Maria Girlie Pascual and James Dela Cruz.

Applications for sponsors, partners, donors, businesses and cultural booth tables are still available but you must act fast before we are completely full. We are also Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Bolingbrook Performing Arts looking for volunteers to help with Friday setup, logistics, security, first aid, children’s activities and other miscellaneous tasks during the day of the event. All volunteers are requested to commit at least 4 service hours and must attend at least one meeting for volunteers scheduled on June 1 at the Seafood City 5033 N. Elston Avenue, Chicago, IL and on May 19 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the Fountaindale Public Library 300 W. Briarcliff Rd Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
